I went online to BOA in Dec to open an acct. to find out that theres not a branch where I live. I called two days later to cancel the acct. I was told all was good. Months later I get a collection notice stating that I owe BOA money. Someone changed my mailing address and asked for the acct. to be reopened and get a debit card. They then got a payday loan direct deposited to it and took the money and left me with all kind of charges. I am 99% sure that there is a leak in the TELEPHONE BANKING CENTER at BANK OF AMERICA. They know whos using and not using acct numbers... I just dont know how to get in touch with someone at the corporate office or someone who cares. Mine was just a couple hundred but if there is a leak BOA should try and investigate!!!! ANY IDEA's

Finally someone else who is experiencing the same thing!!! I have been getting tons of solicitation/telemarketing calls and text messages on my cell phone over the last few months. I am suspicious it has to do with the Heartland Security Breach as well because I got a letter from Bank of America (with whom I have two credit cards) saying my account may have been compromised recently. They did not provide any details about what information was possibly compromised. I'm glad I am not alone in my suspicion. I am going to call Bank of America and file a complaint, maybe if more people find out there is a link here, they will do the same and something will get done about this.

You are correct that Bank of America has been lacking with releasing this information to the press. I found out about this today when I went to make a payment and was unable to. After talking with 3 reps, I was finally directed to the Fraud Department. He explained that there was a breach and that I will be receiving a new credit card with a new account number within a few weeks. He said a letter explaining what happened was sent out yesterday to customers. He was unable to tell me if any of my information was stolen.

...and that's MY rant.
